Eva van der Wel is a mandate assistant in migration law at the University of Antwerp. She holds a Master’s degree in Law from Ghent University, specialising in international public law and European law, and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Antwerp. During her studies she gained international experience through an internship at the Embassy of Belgium in Zagreb and an Erasmus exchange semester at Sorbonne University in Paris.
Before joining the University of Antwerp, she worked for four years as a legal attaché at the Council for Alien Law Litigation in Brussels, where she specialised in asylum law and contributed to judicial decision-making.
Her research interests include European asylum and migration law, the principle of mutual trust in the Common European Asylum System, and the legal effects of decisions granting international protection."
