About Alan
Alan Dix is Emeritus Professor at Swansea University and Cardiff Metropolitan University. His research is focused broadly on human–computer interaction and he is lead author of one of the major textbooks in the area as well as other books on digital design and AI. He has worked in various aspects of digital heritage with a particular focus on small communities and informal data. This has included a mobile app for the island archive on Tiree, a remote Scottish island; digital archives for local musical societies; and QR-code based installations for Troedrhiwfuwch, a Welsh village that was evacuated in the 1980s. He is part of the steering group of CHART, Swansea University's heritage research group.
