About Robrecht

Robrecht Declercq is a business and economic historian, interested in the material culture of commodities and with a keen interest in industrial heritage, broadly defined. Robrecht did his Phd at the European University Institute (2015),  uncovering the history of the city’s once very important fur industry that employed about 10,000 workers in the 1920s. His monograph on the Leipzig fur industry has been published as a book in 2017 (Routledge). As a postdoctoral researcher, he started working on value chains in copper. He is member of the scientific steering committee of ETWIE (the network for scientific, industrial, and technological heritage) and has worked with the Ghent Industrial Museum (Industriemeum) on an exhibition “FERRO NON FERRO” (2023).
