Passport

All foreigners who wish to visit South Africa must hold an international passport. Please note that your passport must have two blank pages and be valid for 30 days from the date of intended departure from South Africa. Otherwise, travellers will be denied entry into the country upon arrival.

Visa information for short stay (maximum 90 days)

For tourist stays in South Africa of less than 90 days, passport holders from several countries are exempted from a prior visa application. Please consult this webpage to check whether or not your country is on the visa exemption list. For Belgian participants for example, a prior visa application is not required. A 90-day residence permit will be issued at the border upon entering South African territory. Always double check with the foreign affairs department which rules apply to your country. In case you need an invitation letter for a visa, please contact us.

Vaccinations

A yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before arrival is required for travellers originating from or transiting through WHO-designated yellow fever countries. Consult this webpage to check whether or not your country is on the list.

Consult your federal administration to find out which vaccinations and health measures are recommended or required. Belgian participants can consult this webpage.

Insurance

All accepted participants are insured for third party liability and accidents during summer or winter school activities. Additional insurances (e.g. health and travel), as well as travel costs are the participant’s own responsibility.
