UAntwerp Image Library
The UAntwerp Image Library offers an extensive collection of high-quality images.
Make your webpage pop with eye-catching photos of students, staff, campuses, buildings and themes. Uncopyrighted videos can also be used, edited and distributed.
Access
- All employees have access to beeldbank.uantwerpen.be with their personal UAntwerp accounts.
- Please refer to the manual on how to use the image library. You’ll find a link to it at the bottom of the screen after you log in.
- The public 'Collections' section, with photos of events held at UAntwerp, is also accessible to external visitors, without the need to log in.
Requirements
- Photos and videos free of image rights can be used on the website.
- Always select the high-resolution image from the image library.
- Pixelated versions of photos with standard image sizes are shown.
- After logging in, Web Editors can access the high-resolution section.

Free and premium stock images
Never take a random photo from the internet to use on uantwerpen.be or any other communication channel. The unauthorised use of photographs is subject to serious penalties!
Can't find the right image for your page in the UAntwerp image library? Try browsing one of the public websites with high-quality free or premium photos listed below. Some basics to be mindful of when constructing your visual narrative:
- Favour authenticity, originality and reality
Don't choose overly stereotypical models, but select 'real', natural people. Also opt for images that are in line with reality.
- Avoid fake-looking, cliché stock photos
Over-used, over-processed, sterile stock photos are a big no-no.
- Choose photos without any text
You can always add captions to text webparts.
- How original is your photo?
Use Google Images to check how many search results there are for your image. You can either paste an image link or upload an image.

Found the right photo on Shutterstock? Send the photo ID number and the complete budget code (department, unit, activity) to the UAntwerp New Media Service. The purchase costs are settled by internal transfer.

Canva photos also offers a broad selection of premium quality images.
