Welcome to my website. I’m full professor of corporate finance at the University of Antwerp. From 2012 to 2015 I was head of the Department of Accounting and Finance. I also held part-time positions as a professor or a lecturer at the Université catholique de Louvain, the Vlerick Business School, Ghent University, and Hasselt University, and I was visiting professor at the Hull University Business School, the University of Bergamo, the University of Calabria and the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. Since 2020 I’m editor of the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting.
I very much like doing research. While I have a broad interest in corporate finance, my current research focuses on entrepreneurial finance and financial history. I have supervised numerous PhD students and published more than 50 articles in a wide range of international academic journals. These include finance journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management and Journal of Empirical Finance, as well as leading journals in the fields of accounting (The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies), entrepreneurship (Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics) and economic history (Journal of Economic History, Economic History Review, Explorations in Economic History). My research has been cited more than 8,000 times (cf. my Google Scholar Page).
