Dr Elif Durmuş is a Postdoctoral Researcher working on human rights socialisation, - compliance and - accountability of actors other than the (nation-)State. As part of the inter-university project “Future Proofing Human Rights – Developing Thicker Accountability” she works on the re-conceptualisation of “Duty-Bearers” in Human Rights - with an eye to new duty-bearers such as businesses, armed groups, local governments etc - by drawing inspiration from other legal fields. Her research interests also include public international law, the localisation of human rights, and the sociology of norms.
