I am a microbiologist (BSc) and epidemiologist (MSc and PhD student) committed to improving global health, particularly in the fight against infectious diseases. Some of my experiences involved substantial lab experience with bacteria (e.g. 'Salmonella') and viruses (e.g. SARS-CoV-2) and research at Portuguese Catholic University, Imperial College London, London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research and Global Health Institute of Antwerp. I am doing a PhD in reducing the burden of onchocerciasis (also known as 'river blindness) at the Global Health Institute, University of Antwerp.
