Daan Van den bussche is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Urban History at the University of Antwerp. His research examines the impact of immovable assets on wealth inequality in Belgium between 1855 and 1937, with a focus on land ownership and the emergence of Belgium as a nation of homeowners. His PhD is part of the interuniversity and interdisciplinary project "An Ancestor’s Tale: 200 years of wealth inequality and redistributive policy".
