This programme was organized as an alternative to the originally planned immersion in Bukavu, in eastern DR Congo. Due to the takeover of the region by the M23 rebel group, the programme was moved to Arusha, where the Belgian and Congolese students were still able to meet. The students stayed with host families in mixed groups and explored the following themes.

  • Food security
  • Women's rights
  • Nature conservation
  • African integration

The participants were divided into groups according to the chosen theme. These groups wrote papers based on the project visits that took place as part of this programme.
