The STI Indicators Conference series, jointly organized by the hosting institution(s) and the European Network of Indicator Designers (ENID), has a distinguished tradition of convening leading experts and researchers in science, technology and innovation indicators analysis and policy. Since its inception, the conference has served as a premier forum for exchanging ideas, advancing methodologies, and shaping the future of research and innovation measurement.

Over the years, the series has traveled across Europe and beyond, with editions hosted in Leiden (2010, 2014, 2018, 2023), Rome (2011, 2019), Montréal (2012), Berlin (2013, 2024), Lugano (2015), València (2016), Paris (2017), the virtual edition hosted by Aarhus University (2021), Granada (2022), and Bristol (2025). Each edition has brought together a vibrant mix of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore the evolving landscape of STI indicators.

This 30th edition at the Univeristy of Antwerp will provide a dynamic platform to reflect on the role of indicators in fostering responsible, inclusive, and forward-looking research and innovation systems. Participants will engage in discussions on methodological advances, policy applications, and the societal impact of STI measurement.

The Flemish Centre for R&D Monitoring (ECOOM), whose researchers are active members of ENID and regular contributors to the STI conferences, will play a central role in shaping the program. Notably, this marks the third time Flanders hosts the STI Indicators Conference, following earlier editions in Antwerp (1995) and Leuven (2006) – underscoring  the region’s longstanding commitment to excellence in research and innovation monitoring.
