Wow that was fun, wasn’t it?
On Thursday 3 September, around 350 nerds … erm, enthusiasts gathered in Building Meerminne on Stadscampus.
Three of our researchers kicked off the evening with an old-school classroom presentation. We learnt why Japanese is so difficult, why a dog fits inside a Louis Vuitton bag and why even a plumber’s taps sometimes leak.

After De Spreekbeurt, it was time for a short break and a bite and a drink. You can’t go far wrong with a hot dog that good. Just looking at it is making me hungry again.

And then, finally, it was time to launch the paper aeroplanes, and the accompanying watch party. The evening was all about the four Gs: Good times, Gags and Giggles, and Gathering knowledge.
But the best was yet to come… as our very own Pommelien Thijs would say (you really should listen to her! xoxo, a fan.)
Because guess what? The Ig Nobel Prizes are coming to us in 2027, to our city, to Antwerp! The audience went wild. And rightly so.
