Programme:
09:00–12:00: Introduction & Lecture on facial muscles, comparative expression, hybrid masks, and puppetry traditions (Commedia dell’Arte, War Horse, Noh theatre).
12:00–13:00: Lunch break
13:00–14:00: Sketching & Concepting from animal anatomy; draw 2–3 character expressions using FACS, grimace scales, or stylized archetypes.
14:00–16:00: Armature construction & Paperclay sculpting; build facial features, create emotion sets, explore hybrid human-animal masks.
Materials Provided: Air-dry clay, glue gun, cardboard, reference sheets.
Bring: Sketching materials, scissors, glue, card, tissue paper, wire, tape, toilet paper rolls, leather, hair, feathers, or anything for mask prototyping.
