Second network meeting: 'Assessing learning through online measures'

November 19-20 2018

Place

University of Antwerp

Background

As part of the activities of the Scientific Community on ‘Learning strategies in social and informal learning contexts' a two day meeting will be organised in Antwerp.

Purpose of the meeting

The meeting aims at bringing together scholars from different methodological research perspectives that alll have an interest in online measurement techniques. During our two days together, we will strive to bring together different online measures (eye-tracking, EDA, face recognition, sociometric badges,...). If you work/have worked with one or more of these techniques (or other techniques) you are more than welcome to join and share your struggles and results.

Type of contributions

Our main aim is to discuss issues, share data and look for solutions to whatever problems you can encounter when collecting and/or analysing these types of data. Some examples of questions we want to discuss more in depth:

  • which measurement techniques did you use/combine?
  • how did you set up your experiment?
  • which problems did you encounter when collecting/analysing data?
  • how did you solve these problems?
  • ...

The goal is not only to discuss results in Antwerp; we also strive to try out some of the techniques various researchers are using. Therefore the meeting will take place in the lab of the faculty of Social Sciences where diverse measurement equipment and software (Tobii eye-tracker, Empatica, Face reader, Biopac, Observer) is present.
