Margot Vancauwenbergh

Hey, I'm Margot, general coordinator of Linguini! I'm currently in the third year of my PhD on unconventional uses of verbal constructions, under the supervision of Astrid De Wit & Peter Petré. Before that, I studied Linguistics and Literature (English, German and Dutch) with a subsequent Masters in Linguistics at the KU Leuven. Within Linguini, I'm in charge of all internal admin like setting up meetings, following up on our various projects and supporting my fellow Linguini members wherever necessary. More importantly, I'm the main point of contact for all questions/suggestions concerning the Linguistics Initiative. Just send an e-mail to Toon e-mailadres, or come and talk to me at the office!

Sara Bergen

Sara Bergen

Hi there! My name is Sara Bergen, and I'm in the second year of my PhD, researching the use of English as a lingua franca in multi-phased institutional procedures in Belgium. My project is supervised by Mieke Vandenbroucke and Frank Brisard. Before starting my PhD, I completed a bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Literature (English, Spanish, and German), followed by a master's degree in Linguistics and Literature and a second master's in Translation Studies.

Within Linguini, I'll be taking on the role of coordinator of social activities. My aim is to strengthen the social support network for PhD students in Linguistics by organizing fun and engaging activities, such as afterwork drinks or outings to events in Antwerp (think Christmas markets and more). Additionally, I'll be responsible for welcoming new doctoral students, managing the WhatsApp group, and keeping track of the birthday calendar.

If you have any fun ideas, or if you'd just like to grab a coffee and chat, feel free to stop by my office (S.D.310) or send me an email at Toon e-mailadres.

I'm excited to get to know you all!
