The section Literary and Theatrical Studies of the Academy of Europe includes European and foreign researchers of literary and theatrical theory, history and practices across the world, both of a comparative nature and with an emphasis on specific regional, national and local features pertaining to cultural and linguistic particularities. With regards to fields of interest among the members, the section is inclusive and open to researchers specializing in literatures and theatrical practices from all continents and all historical periods and from all methodological and theoretical points of view that generate excellence. The section is also open to researchers specializing in subjects within the larger contexts where studies of literature, texts and performances play a central role and may be jointly defined by other disciplines like history, media studies, philosophy, philology, art history, musicology or sociology.
