The University of Antwerp and University Fund offer several options for those who wish to contribute to educational opportunities for Palestinian students:
- Support Palestinian students in the West Bank through the Koen de Feyter Solidarity Fund
- Support a student from the region to come and study at the UAntwerp, through the Daughters for Life scholarship
- Support a refugee student for the one-year intensive Dutch language programme at Linguapolis
Support students at partner universities in crisis situations
In times of crisis, universities in the Global South are often hit particularly hard. When conflict, war or occupation erupts, external sources of funding frequently dry up, often when the need for support is greatest.
Koen De Feyter Solidarity Fund was established on the initiative of the UAntwerp's Global Working Group on Global Engagement as an expression of the University's societal commitment, as a way of demonstrating solidarity with partner institutions in the South, and as part of the university's human rights policy.
We are currently working with Birzeit University (West Bank, Palestine) and the Université Catholique de Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Daughters for life scholarship
Do you wish to support a scholarship for students from the region? The Daughters For Life scholarship provides a unique opportunity to eligible candidates from Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq or Morocco to study at the University of Antwerp. Daughters for life was co-founded by honorary doctor Prof. dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.
Support a refugee student
The University of Antwerp wants to contribute to the integration of refugees in our country. Some of them would benefit greatly from starting or continuing their higher education studies. For example, young people who never got the chance to complete, or even start, a study programme in their country of birth, or people with a higher education diploma that is not fully recognised in Belgium.
Linguapolis, UAntwerp's language institute, offers an intensive one-year Dutch programme to such people who are preparing to enter Dutch-taught higher education. The goal is for these students to obtain the ITNA certificate, attesting that they meet the language requirements for enrolling in Dutch-taught programmes at Flemish colleges and universities.
