On Tuesday, 21 October 2025, our member Eugénie Delzenne (University of Antwerp & Ghent University) presented her ongoing research—“From Interdisciplinary Research to Productive Interactions: Assessing the Societal Impact of Interdisciplinarity in the Social Sciences & Humanities”—at the ECOOM Policy Day 2025, themed “Productivity and the Knowledge Economy: Challenges in 2025.” She was joined by co-authors Tim Engels, Johanna Vanderstraeten, and Eline Vandewalle, with Joshua Eykens and Raf Guns also contributing to the research.
Their work examines the relationship between researchers’ practice of interdisciplinarity and their patterns of engagement with non-academic stakeholders, including companies & government institutions.
The event concluded with a panel debate moderated by Prof. dr. Bart Van Looy (KU Leuven, co-supervisor ECOOM), reflecting on the policy implications of declining productivity growth and the role of research in fostering innovation and societal well-being.
