The area of Building Culture: History and Theory deals with the humanities aspects of planning and building.

Within this area we explore the cultural, social, and technological dimensions of the built environment. By examining architecture and interior design across different periods and contexts, we seek to uncover the underlying principles, narratives, and transformations that shape our spatial heritage.

Our research encompasses topics such as design heritage, material culture, spatial narratives, and the interplay between tradition and innovation. Through archival studies, historiographical analysis, and interdisciplinary inquiry, we contribute to a deeper understanding of how buildings and interiors reflect and influence human experiences. By engaging with contemporary debates and global challenges, we strive to foster critical perspectives that inform both research and practice in architecture and interior design.
