Professor Sandra Van Puyvelde on the Universiteit van Vlaanderen podcast

Professor Sandra Van Puyvelde is a researcher at the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology of the University of Antwerp. Her research, in which she combines wet-lab and bioinformatics, revolves around the evolution of bacteria, how they spread and become resistant to antibiotics. 

In episode 473 of the Universiteit van Vlaanderen podcast, Sandra is a guest speaker. She discusses the Salmonella bacteria and how the infection occurs. Sandra also elaborates on the different variants, including a more dangerous variant which is found in several African countries and has become resistant to antibiotics. She explains her research on the evolution of these bacteria and how it contributes to finding a solution for the growing problem.
