Expertise

I received my PhD from the University of Fribourg and the University of Palermo with a thesis on the spatiality of images. I studied Philosophy in New York (NYU), Barcelona (Logos), and Milan (La Statale). Bringing together phenomenology, aesthetics, and cognitive science (enactivism), I seek to understand how images can appear in our visual field and describe the phenomenal differences between pictorial and ordinary three-dimensional objects. My research also extends to neighboring topics such as mental imagery, virtual reality, caricature, and phantoms.
