About Maurits Meijers

I am a Research Professor in Political Science at the University of Antwerp. My work explores political representation and party competition, with a focus on the EU and democratic quality. In 2024, I received an ERC Starting Grant for the project Deception in Democracy, starting in 2025. I co-lead the POPPA expert survey (www.poppa-data.eu) and serve as co-Editor-in-Chief of Politics of the Low Countries. I hold degrees from KU Leuven, LSE, and a PhD from the Hertie School.
