In 2007, Vincent Cattersel earned a Master degree in object conservation and wood conservation. During the period 2008-2014, he worked as a wood and object conservator and research assistant at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage in Brussels and as a visiting lecturer and researcher at the Conservation Studies department, University of Antwerp, Belgium. In 2014, he started a doctoral study as part of the 'European Lacquer in Context' project. This PhD-research project is devoted to the art technical aspects of European lacquering from the 17th to the 19th century in North West Europe.
