Regular fee:  600

IRSCL-members: € 20 reduction 

The tuition fee covers participation in the full programme. Fee includes course material, coffee breaks, 5 lunches, social activities, opening and closing reception and a farewell dinner. It does not include travel costs, accommodation and dinners.

Disclaimer - Cancellation

Cancellation by the organiser 

Should the summer school be cancelled by the organiser for organisational reasons or as a result of force majeure more than two weeks after the application deadline, the organiser will refund the registration fee. Claims for further liabilities or damages are excluded. 

 Cancellation by the participant 

If the participant cancels more than 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, 50% of the registration fee can be reimbursed. If the participant cancels within 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, € 100 of the registration fee will be refunded, unless otherwise mentioned on the website of the specific summer school. This will also be so in case of changing travel regulations and/or in case of a positive test for covid-19 before or during the summer school. All refunds are made in euros. The organisation cannot refund any shortfalls due to exchange rate fluctuations or bank charges. 

Scholarships

Different kinds of scholarships are available. Read carefully the information below.

Scholarship for University of Antwerp Students

Two types of scholarships are available for students who are currently enrolled as regular students of the University of Antwerp. 

  1. Refund of €150/student after attending a summer or winter school organised at Antwerp Summer and Winter University. Students should prefinance the full registration fee and can claim a reimbursement of the allowance after submitting a certificate of attendance and proof of payment to the Antwerp Summer and Winter University Office. The following students qualify for this refund: University of Antwerp students regularly enrolled under a diploma contract in a Bachelor, Master, Advanced Master, Preparatory Programme, Bridging Programme or Academic Teaching Programme, in either academic year 2023-2024 or 2024-2025. 
  2. Scholarship for a short international experience for students who qualify for financial aid by the Department of Social, Cultural and Studentaffairs (SCS) .

Scholarships for international PhD students

We are offering three scholarships for PhD students who do not have funding to cover the tuition fee (worth 600 euro each). The scholarships will cover the registration fee and lunches (unfortunately we cannot cover costs for travel and accommodation)

Applicants are requested to send their CV and a letter of motivation to childlit@uantwerpen.be before 16 December 2023. The letter should include the following information: 

  • PhD title, the programme you are registered for, your supervisor and expected completion date 
  • The thematic strand that you want to register for and how it relates to your research 
  • Your motivation for attending this summer school (300 words) 
  • An abstract for a 20-minute presentation on your PhD during the summer school (300 words) 
  • Why should we support your participation? Have you had any opportunity to study or travel abroad before? Does your university or college provide financial support for education abroad (for example by providing travel grants to participate in summer schools)? Will you apply for other funding?  
  • Contact details for 2 college or university teachers who would be willing to endorse your application. 

We give priority to PhD students who have not participated in the Children’s Literature Summer School before. Selected participants will receive notice by 22 December 2023.
