The tuition fee includes access to the lessons in both Antwerp and Rome, tutorship, workshops, a welcome reception in Antwerp and Rome, social activities organised by Antwerp Summer & Winter University during the week in Antwerp, and full acess to the mandatory course materials by means of a digital syllabus.
The tuition fee does not include coffee breaks, lunches and cost of extra visits in Antwerp and Rome. Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport from and to Antwerp and Rome.
Cancellation policy
Cancellation by the organisation
Should the summer or winter school be cancelled by the organiser for organisational reasons or as a result of force majeure, the organiser will refund the registration fee. Claims for further liabilities or damages are excluded.
Cancellation by the participant
If a participant decides to cancel their enrolment in the summer or winter school, they must notify the organiser in writing. The following cancellation policy applies, unless otherwise mentioned on the website of the specific summer or winter school
- Cancellation more than six weeks before the programme’s start date: 20% of the tuition fee* will be retained as a cancellation cost.
- Cancellation between two and six weeks before the programme’s start date: 50% of the tuition fee* will be retained as a cancellation cost.
- Cancellation less than two weeks before the programme’s start date: No refund will be issued.
*Cancellation costs are based on the original tuition fee before deduction of the €150 scholarship provided to regular University of Antwerp students. Other types of discounts, such as early bird reductions, are not affected by this policy.
The organiser will not be liable for any further claims, damages, or losses resulting from the participant's cancellation. We strongly encourage securing travel insurance to protect against potential losses resulting from cancellation.
All refunds are processed in euros. The organisation cannot refund any shortfalls due to exchange rate fluctuations or bank charges.
Scholarships
When applying, candidates will be able to indicate which type of support they wish to apply for and, if applicable, whether they would be able to attend both components in person if financial support cannot be provided. They may also indicate a preference for hybrid participation in the winter module in Antwerp.
Scholarships for University of Antwerp students
Two types of scholarships are available for students who are currently enrolled as regular students of the University of Antwerp.
- A fee reduction of €150 is offered to support participation in a summer or winter school organised by Antwerp Summer and Winter University. The following students qualify for this discount: University of Antwerp students regularly enrolled under a diploma contract in a Bachelor, Master, Advanced Master, Preparatory Programme, Bridging Programme or Academic Teaching Programme, in academic year 2026-2027.
- Scholarship for a short international experience for students who qualify for financial aid by the Department of Social, Cultural and Student affairs (SCS), to be requested 3 months before the start of the international activity.

Tuition fee waivers for participants from the Global South
Three tuition fee waivers are available for participants from a country in the Global South who are also based in the Global South. For two of them, priority will be given to accepted participants with Palestinian nationality.
Scholarship upon request
One scholarship of €500 is available upon request and attributed by the organising committee. The recipient of the scholarship is expected to attend in presence both the winter and summer module of the programme.
Hybrid participation upon request
In case of financial needs that cannot be covered by external funding, the organisers accept that up to three accepted participants based in the Global South could attend the winter module in Antwerp in a hybrid format, so to reduce the overall cost.
