Summer School | To be announced

The second annual Jesuit Heritage Summer School focused on the themes of sanctity, hagiography, and iconography, with which the Society of Jesus has a rich and complex relationship. Sessions were not only devoted to the founder saints of the Society, but also to the ways in which the Jesuits transformed the tradition of Western hagiography through the writings of the Bollandists, and how Baroque art was used in the iconographic campaigns of the Order.

The lecturers in the 2022 edition included Rob Faesen (Antwerp University/KU Leuven), Robert Godding (Bollandist Society), Eleonora Rai (KU Leuven), Leonardo Rossi (Antwerp University), Evelyne Verheggen (Antwerp University), and Steffen Zierholz (Tübingen University). In addition to the lectures, activities included guided tours of the St. Charles Borromeo Church in Antwerp and the Library of the Bollandist Society in Brussels, as well as a hands on introduction to the Ruusbroec Institute Library.
