The summer school "Modelling infectious diseases and health economics" has been organised yearly since 2020 at the University of Antwerp. Join us for a hands-on course on epidemiological modelling of infectious diseases and health economic evaluations for vaccines.
This summer school equipped me with the tools to understand epidemiological models of infectious disease and to carry out health economic evaluations. As an economist studying market and policy solutions for antimicrobial resistance, this has been extremely enlightening. It has helped me to engage more deeply with the interdisciplinary academic literature and to think more creatively about modelling solutions.

For absolute beginners, some topics may be a bit difficult. However, you will be stretched and learn a lot in a short span of time. The attendees of the course are high calibre and have varied experiences and expertise. It's a decent networking opportunity as well.

The Antwerp summer school on infectious disease modelling and health economics was an excellent and highly practical course. I would recommend it to everyone with limited experience and/or those looking for hands-on exercises in disease modelling and economic evaluations using R. The lecturers were amazing, bringing extensive expertise in their regarding fields. The social events organized by the Antwerp Summer and Winter University were very fun and enjoyable.

An unforgettable week diving into infectious disease modeling! The course content was exceptionally interesting, thanks to the effort put into creating exciting visuals and engaging materials, especially by Professor Lander Willem. This effort was greatly appreciated. Thanks to the course, I was able to unlock my modeling skills, explore local pubs, enjoy rooftop yoga with breathtaking views, and forge lifelong friendships with wonderful people from all over the world. Antwerp Summer University magic!
