Yufe4Postdocs is an ambitious recruitment & training program co-funded by Horizon Europe’s Marie Sklodowska-Curie program. It aims to attract a total of 51 postdoctoral researchers to nine of the partners of the Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance.  The project is developed and led by the Department Research, Valorization and Valorization (RIVA) of the University of Antwerp.

The program launched two calls in 2023 for positions available in University of Antwerp, University of Eastern Finland, University of Bremen, University of Cyprus, Maastricht University, Universidad Carlos III De Madrid, University of Rijeka, Nicolaus Copernicus University and University of Essex.  The first call resulted already in the appointment of 25 postdoctoral researchers, four of which stationed in the University of Antwerp. The second call is currently under evaluation, with an expected additional cohort to be appointed in the Autumn of 2024.

All of these postdoctoral researchers will be running a longer term project addressing  one or more societal challenges and opportunities framed in an urban context. They further defined their subject within one of the YUFE focus areas: Sustainability; Digital societies; European identity and Citizens’ wellbeing. The projects were evaluated by means of an external peer-review, followed by a  multidisciplinary selection committee comprising societal stakeholders.

YUFE4Postdocs comes with a three-pillared training program training program focused on stakeholder interaction, open science and open innovation, comprising two physical workshops in Antwerp, and a structured menu of courses on transferable skills. It aims to build future proof researchers, well equipped to building bridges between academia and society.

The appointed postdoctoral researchers will soon be introduced on the YUFE alliance website.

In the meanwhile meet two of the talented researchers that joined our university in response to the first call.
