About Emma Verhoeven

Emma Verhoeven is a postdoctoral researcher at the Antwerp Media in Society Centre (AMSoC) research group. Her expertise lies in journalism and inclusion. For her current project on care in journalism, she interviews journalists and people of color and LGBTQ+ people who appear in the news. Emma is editor at Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies (Dutch Journal of Gender Studies) and co-organizer of the LGBTQ+ Forum. She obtained her PhD in 2024 with a dissertation on LGBTI themes in Flemish news. In previous projects, she worked on the impact of AI on journalism and on ethics in Europe.
