Particle Physics aims to unravel the mysteries of the universe. Our current understanding of nature at the most fundamental level is that everything around us, all the complicated phenomena that we experience, follow from deep-lying symmetries of nature. Particle physics is therefore both an inherently simple and a beautiful science.

As physics professor at the University of Antwerp, I conduct experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN, Geneva. My specialisation is the experimental study of Quantum Chromodynamics, the theory governing the strong interaction between quarks and gluons.
