About Gert Van Hecken

I am Associate Professor at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB), University of Antwerp. My research explores social-environmental justice, the politics of knowledge, and how communities and movements resist inequalities while struggling for alternative social-ecological futures. I work with long-term partners in Central and South America and on projects on green colonialism in Palestine. I teach political ecology and transformative research methods and coordinate the annual Debating Development series. For more, click “About” in the top menu.
