Dea is a doctoral researcher in the Department of History (Centre for Urban History) and is part of the Social History of Finance project. Her research focuses on female newcomers to the city of Antwerp in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Drawing on administrative and police records, she seeks to reconstruct these women's everyday financial behaviour. She pays particular attention to the informal financial strategies they developed amid the tensions between gender norms and strict residence legislation.
