On Thursday 31 March Prof. Uğur Şahin and Prof. Özlem Türeci received the honorary degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in recognition of their pioneering work in the development and implementation of mRNA technology in immunotherapy and vaccinology and, based on this, in the development of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which has protected the health and lives of millions of people.
