Filmscreening and Q&A

Trailer Sniper Alley

Sniper Alley - to my brother

The documentary Sniper Alley - to my brother by filmmakers Cristiana Lucia Grilli and Francesco Toscani tells the story of Dzemil Hodzic and his extraordinary project ‘Sniper Alley’, in which he collects images from world-renowned war photographers from the period of the siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1996. On 3 May 1995, Dzemil and his brother Amel were playing outside when a sniper started shooting at them. Amel died in his mother's arms at the age of 16. That moment inevitably marked Dzemil's childhood.

Over the years, Dzemil set up a huge project involving the world's greatest photojournalists who had documented the siege of Sarajevo and photographed many children, including Amel. Sniper Alley quickly became a treasure for the community.

Dzemil's story forms the core of this documentary, around which the stories of different people unfold, each in their own direction, like many branches of a tree. Men and women who have chosen to stand on the right side of history, regardless of ethnicity and political ideology.
