Micro-credentials

Lifelong learning in your own field of interest

What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential is a certificate you earn by completing a short training program. These are concise learning paths focused on a specific theme, tailored to meet the needs of the professional field. You can choose from a wide range of micro-credentials covering diverse topics—from architecture to politics, and from heritage studies to data analysis.

Short training program

Micro-credentials are made up of one or a few course modules, sometimes supplemented with additional learning content. The workload is expressed in ECTS credits or study points, and ranges from 3 to 19 credits. These are part-time, short-term courses (lasting one or two semesters) that are easy to combine with a job. Some micro-credentials are especially designed for working professionals, with flexible options such as evening classes, online learning, hybrid formats, or distance education.

Tailored to the needs of the professional field

Interdisciplinarity and close collaboration with the professional sector are central when developing new micro-credentials. The programs are designed based on research into the needs of relevant industries, sometimes in partnership with other educational institutions and organizations.

European-recognized certificate

Learning outcomes are assessed according to transparent standards. When you successfully complete a micro-credential, you receive a certificate that meets a European-recognized standard. Some micro-credentials can be combined to form broader credentials or qualifications.
