Research area

ECHO conducts educational research with the aim of underpinning its training activities scientifically. This is done from two perspectives:

  • Researching the impact of our training activities
  • Researching the most important issues in the higher education context.

The research results provide a basis for improving the design and content of ECHO’s activities.

Our research is presented at national conferences (e.g. the annual VFO study day) and international conferences (e.g. ORD, EARLI, ICED and AERA). These conferences offer the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with other researchers.

ECHO publishes in various Dutch-language journals (e.g. Tijdschrift voor Hoger Onderwijs, Onderzoek van Onderwijs en Pedagogische Studiën) as well as in international journals (e.g. International Journal for Academic Development, Educational Research Review, Higher Education, and Learning Environments Research). These publications help to promote the dissemination of our research results.
