Overton - Connecting Research with Policy

Overton’s software helps organisations find, evidence, and grow the impact of research in policy. Our flagship product, Overton Index, is the world’s largest searchable database of policy documents and grey literature. Tracking millions of documents globally, it automatically maps where policy cites or references academic research, offering a unique lens into how evidence shapes real-world decisions that influence everyday life.

Stand out in a competitive landscape, understand and analyse the policy ecosystem, and highlight the role of research within it - all while supporting faculty and students across your institution - with Overton.

*Overton is proud to be a sponsor at STI-ENID 2026, reflecting our shared commitment to improving and enriching research assessment and expanding the suite of metrics and indicators used to understand research contributions and their societal impact.

Perspecti - Inclusive Research Information and Citation Indexing for the Arts and Humanities

Perspecti, a new initiative by Brepols, aims to improve how research in the Arts and Humanities (A&H) is represented and analysed within research information systems.

Perspecti is a comprehensive database that captures the publication landscape of A&H research. It responds directly to ongoing discussions within the STI community on responsible research assessment, in particular the need for more inclusive, field-sensitive indicators and data sources.

Current citation indexing systems tend to prioritise English-language journal publications from major publishers, offering only a partial view of scholarly activity in the A&H. Perspecti addresses this imbalance by systematically including a wider range of publication types, such as monographs, book chapters, and text editions, while also reflecting the multilingual nature of A&H scholarship across different language traditions.

The initiative is developed in collaboration with an Academic Board and aligns with key principles such as those outlined in the Leiden Manifesto and the Helsinki Initiative. These emphasise transparency, multilingualism, the use of field-sensitive indicators, and the importance of qualitative judgement in research evaluation.

By extracting citation data directly from footnotes and bibliographies, Perspecti enables more accurate and representative mappings of A&H research, particularly for book-based scholarship.

For the STI community, Perspecti offers a valuable infrastructure to support the development of more inclusive indicators, better reflect bibliodiversity, and strengthen the visibility of A&H research within global research information ecosystems.
