The Advanced Master of Water Sustainability: Integrating Technology and Nature-based Solutions, or in short “Think Water”, is a unique interdisciplinary programme that combines knowledge and expertise about water from the fields of natural sciences and engineering. The objective of the programme is to educate specialists in water technology and nature-based solutions with a thorough understanding of integrated water management, the latest developments in the water sector and challenging global water issues.

In short, the programme focuses on:

  • The interaction between classical technology and nature-based solutions;
  • Thorough knowledge of the functioning of the whole water system;
  • Innovative and integrated solutions to all types of water management problems;
  • Real life applications, projects and the many uses of our water systems through close collaboration with companies, NGO's, research institutes and governments.

Think Water is a 60 ECTS programme aimed at students and professionals who already possess an initial master’s degree. It is organised by the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development (IMDO) of the University of Antwerp, in collaboration with research institutes, governmental agencies and companies throughout Belgium. IMDO has more than 30 years of experience in organising interdisciplinary education programmes in the field of environmental sciences and sustainability. The IMDO network (known as the water lab) assures a strong collaboration of experts in complementary scientific disciplines.
