Bachelor of Laws

Learning outcomes

1. The Bachelor has a basic knowledge of and insight in the foundations, principles and structures of different legal subject areas and a basic knowledge of the interaction between Belgian, European and the international systems of law.

2. The Bachelor is familiar with the sources of law and is able to autonomously consult and interpret these sources and to use the gathered information in an academically sound way.

3. The Bachelor understands legal texts in French and English, he/she is familiar with basic legal terminology in German and he/she is able to use basic legal terminology in French and English.

4. The Bachelor knows and masters the basic methods of legal research.

5. The Bachelor is able to solve legal problems by qualifying the facts and by identifying the relevant legal sources and by applying these.

6. The Bachelor can analyze and synthesize legal texts.

7. The Bachelor is able to communicate correctly, in writing and orally, about legal subjects and to adapt his/her communication to the target audience.

8. The Bachelor can construct and defend a logical and correct legal argument.

9. The Bachelor is able to make a clear and sharp presentation using audiovisual aids.

10. The Bachelor has a broad view on man and society from the viewpoint of different auxiliary sciences and on the factors that influence the law.

11. The Bachelor can critically reflect on the law and the functioning of the law in society.

12. The Bachelor is aware of the continuous development of the law and is able to extend his/her knowledge through self-study and acquired study-experience.

13. The Bachelor takes on a respectful attitude towards every form of religious experience and philosophy of life.

14. The Bachelor is able to work both independently and in a group.
