As a teacher, do you ever find yourself asking: How can I think or act more inclusively in teaching practice? What if I say or do something wrong? What do I need to consider? Isn't it a lot of work to make my teaching more inclusive? And, is it all really necessary?

During March 2024, we respond to these questions with the 'diversity-sensitive and inclusive education in action: inspiring practices' campaign, where UAntwerp teachers share their insights, tips and challenges to inspire peers. In testimonials via podcasts and short videos, lecturers show how they pay attention to diversity and inclusion in their teaching. These practices are evidence-based and offer a general framework. This also allows the translation to different course units, different disciplines and different teaching contexts.

This campaign is broad in scope and includes testimonies on such topics as the role of women in sciences, how teachers bring LGBTQI+-related topics into the curriculum, how teachers ensure that students from diverse backgrounds feel welcome in their lessons, ....

The campaign consists of a webpage built around the following questions:

·         How do I make my communication more inclusive in teaching contexts?

·         How do I create a safe & inclusive learning environment

·         How do I include diversity in my teaching

·         How can students acquire diversity competences?

This website will be available from the month of March. Keep a close eye on it!
