Position

  • You will work actively on the preparation of a PhD thesis with a focus on describing the endemicity, clinical presentations and parasitological features of these filarial infections in selected study sites as well as investigating whether they are associated with neurological disorders and adverse pregnancy outcomes. • You can demonstrate excellent study results, with acceptable knowledge of epidemiological study designs. (Co-)Authorship in published scientific articles would be a plus.
  • You have basic skills in data cleaning and analysis.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You are able and willing to travel for short periods of time to Africa and to conduct fieldwork in remote places.
  • You have good organizational and planning skills.
  • Fluency in English is a must, knowledge of French is desirable to ease fieldwork in French-speaking countries

What we offer

  • We offer a doctoral scholarship which will be renewed annually following a positive evaluation. The maximum duration of the scholarship is set at 4 years.
  • The planned start date is 01st October 2025 or as soon as possible after that date.
  • Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders
  • You will receive ecocheques, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
