The VIB Center for Molecular Neurology at The University of Antwerp is looking for a full-time Flow cytometry specialist in the Laboratory of Neuroimmunology
Position
We are looking for a flow cytometry expert to join an exciting research program in the Pasciuto lab at VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology
Our lab studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuroimmune interactions in the context of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled biologist with strong expertise in flow cytometry, particularly in the design and analysis of complex spectral flow cytometry panels. You will play a key role in both advancing in-house projects and supporting other researchers.
Your main tasks will be:
- Design, test, and analyse spectral flow cytometry panels
- Perform routine tasks: run QC, manage stocks, update protocols
- Support other lab members with experimental planning, acquisition, analysis, and presentation of flow data
- Antibody titration, troubleshooting, and panel optimization
- Train new lab members and stay up to date with technological advancements
- Maintain organized records and report weekly to the lab head
Profile
Essential Requirements
- Professional bachelor’s degree in life sciences or industrial engineering, with relevant lab experience
- Solid hands-on experience with flow cytometry (FACS), including panel design and analysis (e.g., FlowJo)
- Passion for supporting scientific projects through technical expertise
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with deadlines and maintaining high standards
- Flexible and eager to learn new skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English
- Strong team player, but also able to work independently
- Motivated, proactive, and collaborative
- Comfortable working in an international environment
Desirable Requirements
- PhD in biomedical sciences, biotechnology, or a related field
- Experience with spectral flow cytometry
- Experience working with mouse models (FELASA B or C)
- Programming skills in R and/or Python
- Background in Immunology
