Antwerp – the city of diamonds, fashion, sports, history and culture by the majestic river Scheldt – has many different faces.
If you're coming to study at the University of Antwerp, you absolutely have to head out and discover the city at your own pace. Antwerp is a vibrant city with character that has everything you need and more, offering the ideal mix for a fantastic student life. It will steal your heart.
Studying in a metropolis
Studying in Antwerp will definitely give you an advantage later in life. Over the course of your studies, you’ll gradually break out of your protective cocoon. As a student in a big city, but on a human scale, you'll meet people from far away and from right here – people from the real world.
Relaxing in the city
Head out and get some fresh air in one of the city’s many parks, such as the central Stadspark, the sporty Rivierenhof, the playful Nachtegalenpark or the Middelheim sculpture park. You'll find lots of great places to walk, run, play ball – whether it's a fierce game of basketball or a laid-back game of pétanque – or to have a picnic with your friends by the Scheldt. When the sun's out, Park Spoor Noord is the place to be to cool down by the water. Skaters meet here in the spectacular bowl.
Out and about in Antwerp
Be prepared to make some hard choices, because there's always something to do in Antwerp, all year round. There are cultural and sporting events in both summer and winter, such as the Summer of Antwerp, music festivals, shopping Sundays and various markets and sports competitions. You’ll find cafés and restaurants all over the city, from trendy hotspots to small, cosy hangouts off the beaten track.
