We briefly presented our case studies. The final selection of these sites will be clarified following the completion of the first two work packages. We also initiated the definition of tasks for WP1, a key milestone that will set the foundation for the entire project. The Bulgarian team proposed a framework to systematically collect both qualitative and quantitative data, strengthening the robustness and publishability of our results

We reviewed WP2 objectives and deliverables for identifying candidate zones for floodable parks. The Turkish team made a list with the criteria and data/maps needed and for mapping, site selection, hydrological modelling and capacity estimation. The main WP2 outputs will be a ranking of floodable-park potential areas.

WP3’s methodology was outlined. Vegetation types will be identified through GIS spatial analysis using Sentinel-2 imagery (10 m resolution), ensuring consistency across case studies. This will be complemented by vegetation relevés conducted twice during the project, in spring or summer.

Water quality will be monitored seasonally, alongside sediment analyses conducted twice a year (wet and dry seasons) to assess composition and pollutants. Finally, a literature review using the TRY database will examine flood-adaptive vegetation traits

Defining methodology meeting

We reviewed the progress of all work packages. WP1 and WP3 are currently developing their methodologies, to be shared in the next meeting. WP2 requested partners to upload required maps and data to support geospatial analysis. WP5’s approach was presented, raising discussions on overlaps with WP1. The Polish case studies were also introduced, prompting discussion on selecting two parks

First presential meeting of the AQUALive consortium

Kraków, Poland

The consortium will finally meet in person in Kraków, Poland. We will discuss the preliminary findings, how to proceed the research and next steps towards publications. We will also visit the case studies of our polish team.
