Foorwonder roundtable

During this special Late Thursday, we invite you to the Huis van Alijn museum attic for an inspiring round-table discussion about the book Foorwonder.

In this roundtable discussion, you will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Foorwonder book and how science at the fair became a form of popular entertainment and knowledge sharing. Nele Wynants, Gitte Samoy, Tim Overkempe, Hannah Welslau, Eva Andersen, and Bart G. Moens will discuss their discoveries, the writing process, and the hidden stories behind the book. The round table will be in Dutch. More information and registration.

Afterwards, you can toast the fairground heritage in the museum café or immerse yourself in the Foorwonder exhibition, which will be open until 10PM. In the museum shop, you will find the book of the same name if you want to continue exploring this rich theme at home.

Tijdens deze bijzondere Late Donderdag nodigen we je uit op de museumzolder voor een inspirerend rondetafelgesprek over het boek Foorwonder.

In dit rondetafelgesprek krijg je een blik achter de schermen van het De onderzoekers van boek Foorwonder en hoe wetenschap op de foor een vorm van volksvermaak én kennisdeling werd. De sprekers nemen je mee naar een tijd waarin nieuwe technologieën het publiek verbaasden en nieuwsgierigheid overal voelbaar was. Science at the Fair (Nele Wynants, Gitte Samoy, Tim Overkempe, Hannah Welslau, Eva Andersen en Bart G. Moens) vertellen over hun ontdekkingen, het schrijfproces en de verborgen verhalen achter het boek. 

Proost nadien op het kermiserfgoed in het museumcafé of laat je onderdompelen in de expo Foorwonder. In de museumshop vind je het gelijknamige boek om thuis verder te genieten van dit rijke thema.
