Film screening | Swati Kamble | USOS
19 March | 14:00 - 17:00
Homebound follows two childhood friends, Chandan and Shoaib, who leave their village with the dream of becoming police officers. As they navigate their friendship and their futures, they are confronted with caste, religion, poverty and discrimination in contemporary India. Director Neeraj Ghaywan (a Dalit himself) brings his own experiences and insights into caste, gender and religious intersections to all his films, making stories like this both deeply personal and socially relevant. He tells this story with great sensitivity and nuance, showing how structural inequality shapes everyday life.
