May 17 is IDAHOT – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. On this day, people around the world raise awareness about the rights and well-being of LGBTQI+ individuals. At the University of Antwerp, we are committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone. Since 2019, we have been raising the rainbow flag as a powerful symbol of solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community. It reflects our belief that everyone should be free to be themselves at our university – regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

This year, we’re taking things a step further. In addition to the rainbow flag, we will also raise the united AUHA flag – a symbol of connection, commitment, and pride. Together with our AUHA partners, we’re organizing a series of inclusive activities across our campuses from May 12 to 17. Because together, we are building an environment where everyone can thrive as they are. Diversity, inclusion, and collaboration are at the heart of our community.

Be inspired, connect with others, and discover what united means to you: United by curiosity. United by respect. United by creativity. United by whatever inspires you.
