Linking Your Thesis to the Climate Action Plan

The University of Antwerp’s Climate Team welcomes both supervisors and motivated students from all disciplines to connect their thesis research with the Climate Action Plan. Research questions with an applied focus on the UAntwerp case are often directly useful for strengthening and further advancing the university’s sustainability policies.

You are more than welcome to establish the link or application within your own topic of choice. For inspiration, we have also compiled our 2025 wishlist below. Answers to these research questions could directly accelerate our sustainability transition and inspire other organizations as well.

The Climate Team and the Environmental Office are committed to actively supporting this research. This support may include providing background documents, data sources, and practical information, acting as co-assessors, or in some disciplines offering co-supervision.

Draw inspiration from past cases

Past students have already made concrete contributions to university policy, including:

  • Cost-benefit analyses of PV installations on UAntwerp rooftops

  • Mapping barriers and enablers for sustainable international mobility among staff

  • Optimizing stock management of chemical substances in laboratories

  • Detailing the ecological footprint of commonly used chemical substances
