2026-04-22 — New toolchains module calcua/2026.1

The latest version of the common toolchains (released by the EasyBuild community in March) has been made available via module calcua/2026.1.

Version 2026.1 includes new versions of the GCC 15.2.0 and Intel 2025.3.3 compilers (as part of the foss and intel modules), and also adds a new
lfoss module
which includes the LLVM 21.1.8 compiler.

These new toolchains have also been added to calcua/all, so all modules built with the 2026.1 versions of the common toolchains are available by
default
.

P.s.: this also implies that the default version of several modules might have changed (or will change in the near future).
E.g., the default version of the Python module that gets loaded when using "module load Python" now is Python/3.14.2-GCCcore-15.2.0 (previously, this was Python/3.13.1-GCCcore-14.2.0). So you might need to update your job scripts.
Remember that we always suggest to explicitly load the appropriate calcua module first as well as to load a specific version of a module.

2026-01-26 — Planned maintenance

We have scheduled a downtime for all CalcUA clusters between Monday January 26, 7 am, and Friday January 30, 6 pm.
This is needed for the upgrade of our storage servers and filesystems services.
Afterwards, we will do some more maintenance tasks and run several tests.

During this downtime, access to all CalcUA clusters will not be possible
(including our Open OnDemand web portal and Globus endpoint).

Access to other VSC Tier-2 sites will not be possible.
Access to VSC Tier-1 is possible, but $VSC_HOME and $VSC_DATA will not be available.

Our apologies for the inconvenience.
