Congratulations to Our New FWO PhD Fellows
We are thrilled to announce that Aurélie Hofkens and Isa Decuypere have both been awarded a PhD fellowship from Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO). Aurélie will investigate pathogenic immune signaling pathways along the microbiome-gut-brain axis. Her project aims to uncover the role of Serum Amyloid A proteins in early immune-driven mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. Isa will investigate the role of nuclear fragility in glioblastoma aggressiveness and plasticity, with the aim of exposing potential new therapeutic entry points.
CBH Raises €1,535 for Alzheimer Research
The CBH lab team recently organized a successful fundraising campaign in support of the Alzheimer Research Foundation (Stichting Alzheimer Onderzoek – stopalzheimer.be). Operating under the name Alzogether CBH, the team baked and sold homemade cookies, ultimately raising €1,535 for this important cause.
To conclude the campaign, members of the team participated in the 10 km walking trail of Les Boucles Ardennaises in La Roche-en-Ardenne. Despite forecasts of rain, the sun came out, making for a beautiful and uplifting day.
Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts!
